If you are responsible for developing, updating or managing a website or perhaps you are trying to figure out how to start a website on your own, then this site exists for you. Truly thrifty webmasters aren’t afraid to look at a little code, learn some new vocabulary, or get lost in a million browser tabs when faced with a costly solution to a problem.

What is this site about?

Here you will find practical tips and tools for creating and managing websites on the cheap. It can be time consuming to sift through tons of discussion board posts for elegant solutions to your website issues. My hope is to be a trustworthy resource for you with intuitive explanations that are easy to read and realistic to apply. From low-cost hosting to free software and tools, I’ll share the ways I’ve managed to tackle demanding website projects and other digital communications best practices.

As a “thrifty webmaster” in real life, I’m passionate about DIY websites, HTML, CSS, responsive design, bootstrap, open source software, free tools, and general nostalgia from the golden days of the internet.

Working with websites in the non-profit sector for over a decade, and as a penny-pinching enthusiast since the mid-90s, I have found plenty of ways to get around most major website expenses.
